Why Become a Babysitter?

You are a teenager looking for a job.  Or maybe you are a stay-at-home mom looking to supplement your family’s income.  Or maybe you are a mature individual who loves kids and is looking for fun activities on which to spend some time.  For these and myriad other reasons, people choose to become babysitters.  What follows are the advantages to becoming a babysitter.

1.      You can work as a babysitter before you can legally perform most other jobs.  Federal employment law restricts employment activities for people under the age of 18 years.

2.      You can be a babysitter on your own schedule.  If a family asks you to babysit at a time when you are unavailable, you can simply gracefully decline the opportunity to babysit on that occasion.  (Note: it is advisable for you to recommend another babysitter who may be able to babysit for the period for which you are unavailable.)

3.      You can babysit in your own home.  For example, if you are a stay-at-home mom, you can supplement your family income by babysitting one or more children while also watching your own children.

4.      You can earn a fair income for a job that does not require a college education or advanced technical skill or knowledge.

5.      Best of all, you get to spend time nurturing children.

If these five advantages are of interest to you, becoming a babysitter may be right for you.
